Innovated - not imitated

Since the first Macho has been released in the summer of 2011, the coolers of the Macho family, which has been growing quite a bit, are usualy the first choice for users looking for a potent yet quiet cooling solution.

The Le Grand Macho completes the series. Based on the legendary HR-02 and the HR-22, which has been specifically optimized for fans of semi-passive cooling. In this version the cooler comes with a full set of mounting materials, yet no fan is included. This corresponds to the desire of many users for an individual configurability.

The design of the heat sink of the HR-22 were consequently improved. Since the Le Grand Macho is ca. 3 mm lower then the originally Macho, it also fits in the cases, where the Macho is too high. The asymmetrical heat sink design, which is now even copied by other manufacturers, grants the maximal compatibility to the curretn mainboards. The Le Grand Macho ensures so that the first PCIe slot is no longer blocked.

Like the Macho Rev.B, the Le Grand Macho offers a significantly enlarged, nickel-plated and highly polished base (53 x 40 mm). So the cooler is perfectly suited to work with the new Intel Core i7 high-performance CPUs with up to 8 cores. The optics of the Le Grand Macho adapts to the other members of the Macho family and offer in combination with the black anodized top fin a probably unique elegant appearance.

The Le Grand Macho can be used for semi-passive cooling, without any additionaly accessories. Please make sure that your systems has a suitiable ventilation, so a sufficient cooling capacity is guaranteed. If necessary, the Le Grand Macho can be equipped with a fan duct. The fan ducts are optionally available in two versions - either for 120 mm or for 140 mm case fans. We recommend the use of a fan duct generally for overclocked prozessors. Active cooled the Le Grand Macho reaches a cooling capacity to max. 300 TDP.

The aluminum cooling fins are perforated by a plurality of air holes, which counteract air accumulation between the cooling fins. The special design of the heatsink’s aluminum fins allows for a particularly low air resistance. The oval air duct in the middle of the cooler provides controlled air turbulence within the heat sink, whereby the heat can be dissipated more effectively.

The nickel-plated C1100 copper base plate of the cooler is a high gloss polished and has a slightly convex-shaped contact surface. The convex shape – compared to flat surfaces – further optimizes the cooling performance - especially in Intel systems. This system, which has been developed by Thermalright years ago, has since been “adopted” by other manufacturers as well.

As with all our high performance coolers the Le Grand Macho makes use of the well-proven heat pipe technology. A total of seven high-performance 6 mm heatpipes provide the most efficient dissipation of the generated processor heat. The heatpipes are tightly integrated into the nickel-plated copper base plate, which guarantees the most effective heat dissipation.

A universal mounting kit is included with the Le Grand Macho that supports all actual Intel- and AMD sockets (Intel LGA775/1366/1156/1155/2011/1150/2011-3/1151 und AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1/FM2/FM2+) and can be mounted on the new Intel LGA 2066 processors.

Also included in the package is our Thermalright Screwdriver. With this extra-long screwdriver, which has a magnetic tip, it is very easy to install the cooler, even if the motherboard has already been mounted in the case. The equipment is completed by the excellent Thermalright Chill Factor 3 thermal paste (syringe).
