Macho Rev.A (BW)

The HR-02 Macho Rev. A (BW) is probably the best-selling Thermalright cooler ever. Since its release in the summer of 2011 the Macho is the first choice for users who are looking for a low budget, high-performance, and low-noise CPU-Cooler that can universally be used on all actual sockets.

The silent optimized cooler offers superior cooling performance with no frills at a very attractive price. In this price range, users will be hard-pressed to find a better overall package based on outstanding cooling performance at the lowest possible noise levels: in short – more cooler needs no one!

The heat sink design follows the layout of the successful HR-02, which made a big splash as semi-passive CPU-Cooler, especially among Silent-Fans. The outstanding cooling performance of the HR-02 Macho Rev. A (BW) is based on a long evolution, which is reflected in the well thought-through combination of a variety of design-features and the extraordinarily large surface area: “innovated – not imitated”.

The cooling fins are perforated by a plurality of air holes, which counteract air accumulation between the cooling fins and guarantee optimal air exchange. The special design of the heatsink’s aluminum fins allows for a particularly low air resistance and has been optimized for low-rpm fans. An oval air duct in the middle of the cooler provides controlled air turbulence within the heat sink, whereby the heat can be dissipated more effectively.

The heat sink is aligned to the rear of the PC case, which ensures that even when using ram modules with high-rising heat spreaders no incompatibilities will arise despite the impressive dimensions of the heat sink. In addition, the cooler benefits from the air flow generated by the usually available rear case fan.

As with all our high performance coolers the HR-02 Macho BW Rev. A makes use of the well-proven heat pipe technology. A total of six high-performance 6 mm heatpipes provide the most efficient dissipation of the generated processor heat. The heatpipes are tightly integrated into the nickel-plated copper base plate, which guarantees the most effective heat dissipation. The nickel plated copper ground plate in the innovative “convex-design” has been mirror-polished for the Macho. The slightly curved shape in conjunction with the ridge-free surface guarantees a further optimization of the cooling capacity.

A temperature-controlled TY-147 A PWM-fan is included with the HR-02 Macho Rev. A (BW).  The BW relates to the black and white color option of the fan, which originally has been designed for the European Market. The fan is particularly silent (about 15 – 21 dBa) at a rotation speed of 300 to 1,300 rpm.

The fan uses a low-wear „Enhanced Hyper Flow Bearing“ and provides a maximum air flow of about 28.7 to impressive 125 m³/h. The award-winning fan with its unique design comes with the mounting holes of a conventional 120 mm fan and at the same time offers a larger inner diameter than usual 140 mm fans. The fan is attached with redesigned fan clips to the cooler – self-adhesive anti-vibration pads are included.

A universal mounting kit is included with the HR-02 Macho Rev. A (BW) that supports all actual Intel- and AMD sockets (Intel LGA775/1366/1156/1155/2011/1150/2011-3/1151 und AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1/FM2/FM2+). In addition, the cooler is equipped with mounting material for the new AMD AM4 Ryzen processors and can be mounted on the new Intel LGA 2066 processors.

Also included in the package is our Thermalright Screwdriver. With this extra-long screwdriver, which has a magnetic tip, it is very easy to install the cooler, even if the motherboard has already been mounted in the case (given that an appropriate mounting hole for the installation of the back plate is available in the motherboard tray). The installation is easy and self-explaining. An illustrated manual (English and German) is included. The equipment is completed by the excellent Thermalright Chill Factor thermal paste (blister).
